A festive evening at Coal #gifted

I was recently invited to the newly refurbished dining room/bar Coal in Exeter for a night of cocktails, amazing food tasting and special surprises. Offering high-quality luxurious burgers along with warming comfort food and a place full of flavour, and incredible drinks to start your night with a bang with their 2 for £10 cocktails using fresh ingredients – there is no ready mix cocktails here!

They pride themselves with their amazing new menu, keeping the classic favourites whilst adding some extra surprises to keep things interesting.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by some of their lovely team and mulled wine which was lovely to warm us up from the walk through town. Beautiful canapés we’re borough around to have a taster to their newly launched menu. The new menu is full of fresh ingredients and big flavours. For me, being a vegetarian is often a struggle due to having a couple of options to choose from. Coal has been working on their vegetarian and vegan plates which is lovely to see. Later on in the evening, we were presented with a whole table showing off the variety of their stunning food, my favourite being there amazing soya patty with sweet pepper, looking like meat but full of flavour.

The cocktail selection at Coal is immense, with little twists to their specialities. A big favourite being the cranberry drink but mixing it up with gorgeous glitter and a stick to swirl the shimmer through the glass, perfect for Instagram photos! Another one we had was a GinStar, a PornStar but swapping the Vodka with the Gin, adding more vanilla making a beautiful passion fruit alternative which was amazing also it’s a smaller glass because it’s more concentrated, less mixer!

Then we were taken to two tables, and we were shown a live dessert making. Swirling cream, placing ice cream, cheesecake, and dropping pomegranate seeds surrounding the dessert tasters. It was amazing to watch it all come to life and we grabbed a spoon, it was a great way to get to try all the desserts on offer at Coal, all of which were incredible.

Thank you to Coal and Socialightapp for inviting us to this festive evening. It was a stunning set up and I can’t wait to return to Coal to try there massive selection if food and cocktails especially when the cocktails are 2 for £10! If you haven’t been to Coal, I definitely recommend you visit them!
